Scientifically extraordinary
A scientific study that was published in 2016 (Led by Professor Christian Herbst) tried to understand the appeal behind the singer’s voice. The research team examined vocal samples from twenty-three Queen recordings, his solo efforts, and a number of interviews he conducted. They even used a special video camera to study a singer that tried imitating his voice. The study determined that Freddie Mercury’s voice was beyond just remarkable and pleasant. It was scientifically, extraordinary. An ordinary vibrato will fluctuate between 5.3Hz and 6.8Hz, Freddie’s was 7.04Hz. In other words, his vocal cords moved quicker than the average singer’s.
