Beyonce and Jay-Z aren’t just one of the most powerful couples in the entertainment industry, they also prove to be among the most successful ones.
Individually they are well-known for their chart-topping hits and profitable investments, but together, they have united their talents to become the most omnipotent force in the industry, raking in millions of dollars.
One indication that they are a force to be reckoned with is their combined net worth, estimated to be $1.5 billion.
If that isn’t a clear sign of their success not just in their family life but also in their personal growth, then just look at how massive they have influenced the music industry.
Having been married for more than a decade, it’s not at all surprising how Beyonce and Jay-Z have managed to stay on top of their games and to become a member of America’s wealthiest pairs.
Jay-Z’s Fortune
Forbes recently announced that the rapper, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, joined Forbes’ billionaire list, becoming the first rapper to attain the milestone in hip-hop history.
Born and raised in a poor neighborhood of Brooklyn, Jay-Z has shown how far he had come with careful choices and decisions born out of necessities. After major record labels refused to work with him, the artist set up his own record label in the mid-1990s.
He, later on, ventured into fashion, launching his own brand Rocawear along with business partners, before selling it for a whopping $204 million to Iconix in 2007.
Jay-Z is also a stronghold in hip-hop, becoming the first billionaire in the genre. Most of his fortune came from his Armand de Brignac champagne ownership, a partnership with Bacardi, as well as Tidal, his music streaming business, and other investments.
Beyonce’s Fortune
Beyonce, on the other hand, didn’t start her own record label. Instead, she was catapulted to stardom after becoming a member of an all-girl band Destiny’s Child. She later decided to part ways from the group in order to focus on her solo career.
Since then, Queen Bey’s popularity has only soared higher until she established herself as a household name. As you would expect, her earnings came from her chart-topping hits and her ability to sell out tickets in performances and concerts.
But apart from these obvious factors, Beyonce is also an entrepreneur, albeit not yet a pro in the aspect. She recently bought back the Ivy Park athleisure line and then launched it with Adidas.
According to Forbes, the 37-year-old holds the 51st spot on America’s Wealthiest Self-Made Women list. Add to that the reported $60-million deal with streaming service provider Netflix for the “Homecoming” documentary about the “Lemonade” singer’s Coachella 2018 performance.
Family Life
The high-profile couple exchanged vows on April 4, 2008 in a private ceremony that was attended by celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kelly Rowland, Chris Martin, and Michelle Williams, who had to follow the no recording policy.
Jay-Z and Beyonce first worked together in 2002 in the song “03 Bonnie & Clyde.” The music video set the internet ablaze as it sparked dating rumors.
They tied the knot in 2008 in an uber-private ceremony and welcomed their first child Blue Ivy four years after their wedding. Five years later, the “Crazy in Love” hitmaker gave birth to twins Sir and Rumi.
