Gaga’s Grammy Awards
As if her already impressive portfolio is not enough, Lady Gaga has even added more feathers to her cap. At the recently held Academy Awards, the singer went home with 3 Grammy awards.
Breaking that number down, one of the awards was for “Joanne,” and the two other awards were for “Shallow.” Interestingly, the awards came from Gaga’s work in “A Star Is Born,” a musical film she co-starred with Bradley Cooper.
She also got 2 Oscar nominations for an impressive performance in that same movie. The nominations were for Best Original Song and Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Gaga got her first ever nomination in 2016, and that was for the Best Original Song in the movie “The Hunting Ground.”
She took to Twitter to express her utter shock and how overwhelmed she was by her wins at the Grammys. Gaga’s career in the music industry started with her debut album titled “The Fame” which she released in 2008. From that year till now, the singer has won 6 Grammys, gone on five different concert tours and she has also had a Super Bowl performance.
Financial Downtimes
Having sold over 11 million albums, there is no denying that Gaga has built an enviable fortune for herself. However, the journey hasn’t been without hitches for Gaga. While speaking to a media outlet, she said she was bankrupt after the Monster Ball extension. That was in reference to her 2nd worldwide concert tour that ran between 2009 and 2011.
She added that it was a funny experience as she had no idea she was already bankrupt. She said she kept calling all those she could, asking why news was going around that she no longer had money. She was surprised when she was told that she had a debt totaling $3 million.
Gaga was only able to scale through those trying times on the shoulders of the quality of her work as well as the popularity of that same work. Gaga successfully got back on her feet, and as of July 2018, she already earned about $50 million.
Gaga’s Biggest Motivation
Gaga goes by the real name Stefani Germanotta. For her, being a pop star hasn’t ever been about making money. She noted that the beauty of being an artist stems from the fact that the dream won’t ever die. She said she isn’t obsessed with material possessions, neither does she care about money or public attention.
What she really cares about is the love she gets from her fans and that in a way helps her focus on being a better artist.
However, the fact that she doesn’t really care about money doesn’t mean she minds spending on things that are important to her including her concerts. She said the only highly expensive things she has bought is a heart valve for her dad and also a Rolls-Royce for her parents on their anniversary.
