Do your friends surprise you from time to time? If not, they need to borrow a page from Ariana Grande’s book. The songstress recently paid for Katy Perry’s meal, and if this seems like fairly common practice, let’s get into how it really happened.
The Dark Horse singer was out with Orlando Bloom (her fiancé) and his son for sushi, and best believe that they were in no hurry to be done. Taking over one and a half hours on their table, they’d finally had their fill, so it was time to pay up and leave.
Bill Taken Care Of
Upon asking for their check, that’s when the waiter informed them that Ariana Grande had already footed their bill. Cool, right? And even though the couple was caught by surprise, they also thought that the gesture was cool. Flynn, Orlando Bloom’s son, took it to another level, saying that it was “dope.”
Paying for a friend’s meal may be a little gesture, but isn’t friendship all about these little things? In fact, Katy Perry was so touched by this that she made sure all her friends knew about it. Orlando, on the other hand, termed it a boss move and proceeded to admit that he has always respected the Thank U, Next 26-year-old singer.
Ariana and Katy Perry have been acquaintances for some time now, and they never fail to acknowledge each other’s presence when they cross paths at award shows and other events. Seeing as they ply the same trade, they’re bound to meet when these things go down, don’t you think?
To their credit, it doesn’t simply stop there. Each has publicly gushed over the other multiple times, and going way back. In 2013, Katy Perry hailed Ariana Grande as the female singer with the best vocals in popular music.
She went into detail, explaining that when performing live, Grande’s voice is equally as good as we hear it when listening to her recorded music. She revealed that they actually got together to listen to one of her songs before Ariana released it.
Nice Things to Say
The 26-year-old has also had some pretty nice things to say about Katy Perry, and she all but credits her success in the industry to her. In some sort of way, she mentored her into the singer she has eventually grown to be, and for that, she is eternally grateful.
Speaking at an interview in 2015, Ariana revealed that when she was starting out, Perry offered to be there for her if she ever needed anything. She said that she felt welcome and it was actually surreal since she had modeled her career to follow in Perry’s footsteps. Having attended one of her concerts some time back, Ariana vowed that she would wow crowds just as she saw her mentor do.
And when she finally got to, Perry made a point of attending the show, reminding her of when she was the performer and Ariana the audience. Tables had now turned, and she wished her all the best on stage, asking her to “kill it.”
Overall, these two talented singers have been supportive of each other throughout their careers, and what’s better than having someone who totally understands the industry being in your corner?
