The memories of Princess Diana will come alive in a new exhibition being held at the Kensington Palace. Diana was the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry who died in a tragic car accident in 1997. The Kensington Palace is exhibiting some of her iconic styles which will showcase one of Diana’s iconic evening gowns as well as eight of her fashion sketches. One of the highlights of the event is the marking of the 200th birthday of Queen Victoria.
The 1988 Catherine Walker-designed evening dress Diana wore at state dinner in Thailand will also be on display. Prince William might also want to see the maternity dress she wore while she was expecting him.
This is the first time the public will have a glimpse of the outfits the late Princess wore on various outings and events. David Sassoon designed the iconic maternity dress during Diana’s first pregnancy which she wore for an event before William was born.
During Diana’s lifetime, she attended about 130 engagements in a year and every event was a special one for the princess. She had a charming personality and was charismatic, compassionate and caring towards people.
Sassoon started working for the princess soon after she started her married life with Princes Charles. He wasn’t just her designer but also a compassionate friend who guided her to make the right fashion judgment. You can get inspiration from some of the clothing seen during this exhibition.
