Oscar-winning actor, Sir Anthony Hopkins has mastered the skill of acting with impressive roles in films like Legends of the Fall, Remains of the Day, The Silence of the Lambs and many more. He is among the greatest actors Hollywood has ever produced. Besides winning several awards, he was also given a token of appreciation by Queen Elizabeth who called him one of the biggest contributor to contemporary arts.
He preferred drawing, playing piano or painting instead of studying, but despite his lack of interest in formal education, Hopkins always did well in school. At 15, he was privileged to meet Richard Burton, who encouraged him to enroll in the College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. He was with the British Royal Artillery for two years before he went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
Hopkins was even offered the role of a villain in the popular James Bond Franchise but he turned down the offer. He also turned down a role as Alfred in Batman Begins. His ability to memorize roles is amazing that he once learned a seven-page speech cover-to-cover for a courtroom scene that was captured in a single shot.
He won an Academy Award for his short performance in the Silence of the Lambs. Hopkins has been ranked on the “100 years of the Greatest Screen Heroes and Villains” as the best.
