Legendary Prince Rogers Nelson is famous for a lot of things, but what people probably don’t know is that he and ex-wife Manuela Testolini lived an extravagant lifestyle. The couple’s unbelievable spending secrets only came to light during the 2007 divorce proceeding.
A decade after the couple’s unfortunate split, files obtained from the court showed that Prince and Testolini wasted money on the most extravagant things. Testolini revealed she spent a whopping $42,500 a month to maintain her lifestyle. The expenses include staying in rented apartments in Hawaii and California, paying her personal chef and an assistant and blowing $15,000 every night at a luxury hotel.
The couple hosted after-parties for many award shows which would cost up to $50,000. On top of that, Testolini paid her stylist $5,000 to do her hair and makeup every day. Prince and Testolini had accounts at Valentino, Versace and Gucci’s boutiques including Saks. There was no limitation to how much the couple spent on themselves. Though Testolini hid the files to avoid harassment, a judge forced her to reveal her expenses.
The couple married in 2001 and lived in Toronto, where Prince produced his hit album, Musicology. Prince died without a will, leaving a confusion around who inherits his estate.
