When Toni Braxton released her hit single, ‘Unbreak My Heart’ in 1996, she touched the hearts of everyone who had ever gone through a bad breakup. The song broke a lot of charts’ records and made her an international superstar overnight. The singer’s deep and brooding vocal gift has opened doors for her in the entertainment world.
but that was when things were going well for Braxton. The singer recently filed for bankruptcy after she struggled to pay her bills. There were reports that it was her reckless spending habit that got her into financial trouble in the first place.
According to reports, the hitmaker purchased mainly Gucci, Louis Vuitton and other luxury brands to quench her extravagant lifestyle. However, Braxton denied the claims and said she had been living very modestly. She confessed that she had bills to pay and when TLC filed for bankruptcy, she realized she was going to lose her job as well.
She revealed that the main reason that led to her bankruptcy was her Vegas show which she financed with her own money. She could have gotten investors to fund the show but she did it her own way and lost millions. She said that despite being praised for making millions in record sales, her royalty check was $1,972 from the first recording contract she signed.
Braxton has said she is an addict of home decor and buying expensive flatware. She bought expensive plates, a thousand threat-count sheets, Faberge eggs and more luxury stuffs.
