George Clooney is a smart businessman when it comes to good investments. When he is not on a Hollywood set, he is busy thinking of businesses he can invest in. The actor recently sold his tequila business for over $1 billion!
Clooney founded Casamigos Tequila with his good friend and business partner, Rande Gerber. The duo decided to sell their business for $1 billion to a company named Diageo, and they didn’t make the sell public until only recently. The actor started his own Tequila production because he loved enjoying a few drinks with his friends and family for special occasions, but what started as a private hobby soon turned into a billion-dollar investment.
Clooney and Gerber have side-by-side vacation homes in Cabo San Lucas that gave them the opportunity to taste a lot of tequila in Mexico. After a couple of months of tasting different tequilas, they decided to make their own which was going to be unique and special. Indeed, it was a perfect drink that grabbed the attention of big companies that were lining outside Clooney’s doorsteps for the opportunity to acquire his brand. The co-founders eventually sold it off as a good investment.
Along with a friend, Michael Meldman, Clooney created his own distiller in Jalisco, Mexico. They had something in mind when it came to tequila. They wanted a taste that would be great and wouldn’t feel like poison going down. They wanted a drink that could be enjoyed on its own or shaken up into delicious cocktails. They wanted a drink that would give you the full tequila experience without getting a hangover.
