It has been a tradition in the United States how the first family would decorate the White House and have a lot of fun Christmas activities with the people.
The Obamas have been known for doing such things and Americans enjoyed it, now that Barack Obama is out of office people expected that he will be doing things that he likes such as spending time with his family especially this holiday season.
It turns out that it’s not the only thing he likes to do since there was one particular incident that he couldn’t just help but bring smiles to the faces of children, just like what he and his wife used to do.
Thank you @BarackObama for making our patients’ day so much brighter. Your surprise warmed our hallways and put smiles on everyone’s faces! Our patients loved your company…and your gifts! https://t.co/bswxSrA4sQ ❤️ #HolidaysAtChildrens #ObamaAndKids pic.twitter.com/qii53UbSRS

Santa Obama
Former United States President Barack Obama set a record in history as the very first African-American president of the country, he has also been known as one of the youngest to have ever been elected with the highest position in the government. This pushed Obama to do remarkable things, even if he is no longer in office.
One of those things is to spread joy during the holidays, and in fact this year he decided that it would be great to wear a red pointy hat and become a Santa Claus for children who are in the hospital.
Obama truly embraced the holiday spirit last week when he went to the Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. to pack up and deliver some gifts to children who are suffering from different kinds of illnesses. This news was actually released by the Office of President Barack Obama that stated how the 44th President of the United States went to all the rooms and even some playrooms to give Christmas presents to the children.
Going for an unusual casual Santa costume with a red hat and grey sweater, Obama was also spotted carrying a ginormous red back that has snowflakes on it and carried it just like Santa Claus does.
However, giving some gifts to the kids is not the only things that he did while he was there, sources said that the former president even spent the time to talk with some of the parents who are there to celebrate the holidays because of their children. Sources said that Obama even talked to one boy who just kept looking at him with awe as if he couldn’t believe that he was face to face with the former president. Obama also broke his “no selfie” rule when he took a couple of snaps with some of the kids at the hospital.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to the extraordinary kids, families, and staff at Children’s National. And thanks for humoring me as your stand-in Santa. https://t.co/mFmYCVk7cr

A Smile For Christmas
The hospital even posted a tweet and gave their gratitude towards the former president. They stated how he managed to put warm smiles on their hallways despite the struggles and that their patients definitely loved his company as well as his gifts of course.
Obama himself, of course, has to post a tweet about it as well, and he replied with a Christmas greeting and even thanked them for humoring him as he portrays as their “stand-in Santa” during his visit. People from the hospital such as the staff, nurses, doctors, and all the patients’ families couldn’t help but take some pictures of the president, and a lot of them even shared how much he is being missed by the people.
It has been widely known how Obama changed the healthcare program in the United States during his time in office. It was in 2010 when he officially signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or more commonly known as Obamacare, which is basically a law that made insurance easily accessible for more than 50 million Americans, and he even made sure that every citizen must be required to have a health insurance for their own sake.
Although, his wife Michelle wasn’t with him at that time, it was reported that the former First Lady has been visiting other hospitals and schools as well, but trying to keep it low key. She reportedly went to visit the Ballou Stay High School, McKinley Tech High School, and more. It turns out that this is not exactly the very first time that Barack Obama surprised people this year, that is because last November he actually snuck onstage while his wife was having her interview about her new memoir Becoming.
