One of the most crucial things about making a movie or a series is when they’re looking for the perfect place to shoot. That is not just because of how it will affect the scenes and the story, but also how it will reflect to the audience.
There will always be movies and series wherein people wish to see the place where they filmed a particular scene and sometimes it can become such an iconic spot. This can put so much pressure onto the production designers and researchers, but it usually is worth it when they find a place that will literally be a spot that the viewers would wish to see. This is also a way for a certain place to be advertised especially if it is not a location that is often visited by lots of people.
Just like the attention that was brought to a beach in Greece by a Korean drama series. The Descendants of the Sun is a romantic drama series that aired back in 2016. It is known to be one of the most popular television series of this generation, not just in South Korea, but all over Asia. This Korean series was set in a beach somewhere in Greece, and people who have seen the series wish now wish to set foot to the amazing paradise known as the Navagio Beach.
Navagio Beach, Greece
When people talk about Greece, they often mention Santorini and Athens since they are the most famous locations in this paradise. However, it turns out that there is one beach somewhere on the island of Zakynthos that can be considered as a somewhat hidden treasure. The Navagio Beach or more commonly known as the Shipwreck beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece and it was made famous by the Korean drama series The Descendants of the Sun.
This island can only be reached by boat and since the show has been aired, more and more people wish to see the real beauty of this parasite. The area is known to be secluded and defined by limestone cliffs and even go up and see the cove. As expected, it appears to have a clear blue sea as well as a powder-like sand.
It is known as the Shipwreck beach because of the shipwreck that is literally still left on the beach. It was reportedly the Panagiotis ship that was said to be carrying smuggled cigarettes as well as wine. The women were said to have been washed away to the shore by the storm at that time. The ship can now be seen at the sandy dunes of the cove and thousands of people who visit the beach get a chance to see it themselves. This shipwreck reportedly happened back in the early 1980s.
A Must-See Paradise
The Descendants of the Sun really made a massive impact on this beach because more and more Asian tourists are visiting this amazing island to explore and see what kind of paradise it truly is.
Unfortunately, an incident happened last September that left at least seven people injured. Turns out that it was because a landslide wherein a part of the face of the cliff broke. The rescuers said that no one was trapped but some are injured, however, it was revealed to be just minor injuries and no one was severely harmed. The place was evacuated immediately as a precaution so it was closed to tourists for a few weeks.

The island reopened not too long after the incident, the authorities introduced a couple of new rules to tourists and their tour guides so that safety is ensured for everyone. There are also coast guards patrolling around the waters and some of them are also in the land.
However, because of the cliffs and the shipwreck, researchers from the University of Athens believe that it is best for the beach to be closed to the public. That is because of the landslide possibilities that may happen again and it is inevitable. This has also been confined by some more researchers from the said university who expected the entire area. This may be your opportunity to visit this beautiful paradise in Greece just in case it does get closed for the public.
