If you’ve been dreaming about living in the high seas, you’re in luck as a superyacht is currently on sale. If your pockets are deep enough, you’ll get to join an elite list of people who have once owned the exquisite boat, the most noteworthy of them being the late Paul Allen.
You know who that is, right? Allen and Bill Gates co-founded Microsoft back in 1975 and the tech company grew to be one of the largest and most successful organizations in the world.
Obviously, the company made its founders quite the chunk of money with Mr. Gates currently being a centi-billionaire, while Allen was worth $20 billion at the time of his death in October last year.
One of the World’s Largest Vessels
So, for a yacht to strike a billionaire’s interest, it must really be something, don’t you think? And this vessel doesn’t disappoint. Going for $325.5 million, the 414-foot long boat has everything you could wish for, and then some. And by the way, its length makes it one of the largest vessels cruising the mighty seas.
Ever heard of a luxury boat without a name? This one goes by Octopus, but let not the name fool you. It isn’t as slimy as a mollusk, not even close. To get the eight arms images off your mind, let’s start with the fact that the vessel has two elevators.
However, guests have the liberty to use only one of them as the other one is only accessible to the vessel’s owner. Talk about privacy! But as the boat’s owner, you may need it. Hosting as many as 26 guests at a go in the 13 guest cabins is no joke.
There are also 63 crew members on board thanks to the 30 cabins available for them, so the human traffic can be quite much. Thankfully, the Octopus is large enough to comfortably accommodate them all.
Amenities available onboard include hot tubs, a bar at the private deck, a spa, swimming pool, basketball court, library, and a movie theatre. That’s not all though, as a glass-bottomed living room is the icing on the cake, and with a cherry on top.
If for any reason anyone wants to make a quick exit from the high seas, the superyacht has two helipads on which one can board their requested flight to the mainland. You never know when seasickness can hit, right? Better safe than sorry then.
The Recording Studio
But of all the features that are aboard the Octopus, its recording studio takes first prize. Why wouldn’t it, considering that it even appealed to the legendary Mick Jagger? Back in 2011, the Rolling Stones lead singer recorded some tracks in the studio while he was on vacation.
And as fate would have it, he isn’t the only A-list celebrity to grace the mighty vessel with his presence. At Cannes this year, the Octopus hosted various supermodels and celebrities as they partied their nights away.
If thus far this mighty vessel hasn’t impressed you yet, you might want to know that it comes with a sub. Yes, you heard that right! A submarine that hosts a maximum of eight passengers and those aboard the yacht can use it to explore the depths of the sea. Isn’t that impressive?
