At first glance, other people may think that celebrities are just busy with left and right shows, movies, or endorsements.
But more than these, stars are also busy making one step ahead: investing in their own businesses which they can turn to when the curtain finally closes on them.
It might be during their spare time or just squeezed in between their hectic schedule, but they make sure their brainchild is properly invested on and cared for.
You’ll be surprised to know that some of those on this list may have some entrepreneurial inkling that is far from their line of work. Here they are:
Jessica Alba
The “Good Luck Chuck” actress is busy nowadays juggling her acting career, her family, and her business called The Honest Company but it doesn’t show.
It seems she can handle everything just fine, after all, the 37-year-old’s brand is going strong despite being thrown criticisms since it came to light in 2011 – by 2016, it was pegged to have a $300-million revenue while the following year, a $1.7-billion valuation. Just look at that jaw-dropping increase in just a span of 12 months!
Meanwhile, the idea of The Honest Company was ignited when the then-pregnant “Fantastic Four” actress had an allergic reaction to laundry detergent.
The multimillion brand is now known for its non-toxic, eco-friendly baby and household products. Alba said she launched the line for moms and children out there who should have safer choices.
Although successful now, she said not all are firm believers, especially when she was just starting to build the business up.
Wahlberg Brothers
You may know Mark Wahlberg from his numerous films in different genres, including action movie “Shooter” and comedy picture “Daddy’s Home,” and his brother Donnie Wahlberg from “The Sixth Sense” and “Blue Bloods,” but there is one more from the family that is worth noting, Paul Wahlberg: the main man behind Wahlburgers.
It’s the three of them who opened the restaurant in 2011 in Hingham, Massachusetts, and this has since sprouted onto many more other key locations in Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and one in Coney Island.
You can even rewatch an eponymous show solely dedicated to the chain and also which centers on Paul as he manages the business.
Reese Witherspoon
Hands down one of the most distinguished actresses in the industry today, Reese Witherspoon, by all means, could live comfortably even without venturing into other paths.
Just look at her current HBO show “Big Little Lies,” which is also top-billed by equally amazing stars Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley, wherein she proves her versatility.
But even as she is successful already, she dipped her toes onto investing by co-founding production company Pacific Standard in 2012.
Pacific Standard is the one who brought us the much-celebrated 2014 psychological thriller film “Gone Girl,” which starred Ben Affleck opposite Rosamund Pike.
She was on a roll after three years since the launch of the production company as she released her clothing line called Draper James that incorporates Southern influence on its styles.
Her latest venture is Hello Sunshine, a digital media company that is all about celebrating women.
Drew Barrymore
Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian aren’t the only ones who have a cosmetics line. Drew Barrymore may be great as a thespian but she is also a great businesswoman.
In 2013, she put up Flower, her very own makeup brand, which is actually just fitting because she’s been in the makeup artist’s chair for so long.
That’s not all, she was equipped with the education she needs for creating her own line after being a co-creative director in the CoverGirl campaign.
Flower is all about quality cosmetics that are affordable and fun, and for the past years, it has established a steady market in the United States. Late last year, the company was brought to the other side of the pond, the United Kingdom.
Kate Hudson
Kate Hudson has a passion for a being fit and it’s a no-brainer that her business is related to this.
In 2013, she, along with Adam Goldenberg and Don Ressler, founded Fabletics – an activewear brand that boasts of its comparatively lower price points than other luxury brands out in the market.
During its first two years, it reached a lot of milestones: it headed to the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Spain, and the Netherlands and opened six stores in the United States.
