Anyone looking to enter into the luxury-car ownership will find small sedans to be the most affordable models offered by any brand. These cars are often more affordable than the bigger, luxury SUVs like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
Luxury brands earned the biggest chunk of their revenues from the sale of small SUVs which are also a great entry point for new customers. Is small luxury SUV the right vehicle for you? Here are five of the most stylish and affordable sedans in the luxury sector to help you make up your mind.
2019 LEXUS UX
The Lexus UX is the cheapest entry class sedan costing $33,025 for the base model. The car comes in a hybrid version for fuel efficiency and has a unique interior made with textured fabric that somewhat resembles the Japanese paper.
The sedan is small in size which increases its maneuverability, making it a great city car for running errands or picking up the kids from school. UX’s biggest drawback is its engine power which is the weakest among all sedans on the list.
2019 VOLVO XC40
XC40 isn’t just stylishly designed on the outside but also has luxurious interior which is both sophisticated and modern. The SUV has some impressive design features including a bag nook and a waste bin to keep the clutter stowed away. XC40 also uses some technical features which can take a long time to learn.
That, along with an uncomfortable front headrest is the biggest downside of the XC40. The car’s infotainment system is visually impressive but isn’t easy to figure out. The XC40’s starting price is $34,195.
2019 CADILLAC XT4
XT4 sedan, by Cadillac, is the dominant force in the entry-level SUV segment due its large size, more leg room in rear compartment and a spacious cargo area. But the car’s dimensions don’t translate into its performance on the road.
XT4’s drive feels like that of a scaled-down sedan similar to the ones offered by Volvo and Lexus. But car is unique in its class and looks much more elegant which is why it appeals to a large number of buyers. The SUV has an extensive list of upgrades which can easily bump up its price to $35,790.
2019 AUDI Q3
Audi was the first carmaker in the luxury sector to come up with an entry-level sedan called Q3. The SUV has gone a design overhaul for its 2019 model which will only be available at U.S. dealerships in July next year.
The car has made some major improvements in terms of space and performance. But probably the biggest upgrade made to the latest model is the availability of impressive tech features. The SUV comes with a starting price tag of $36,000.
2018 BMW X2
BMW’s X1 SUV is another pioneer in the entry level luxury class which set a high standard for other SUVs when it first hit the market in 2012. The car’s dynamics and excellent practicality makes it a hit among sedan shoppers.
The company is coming with its latest generation SUV in 2019 called X2 which compromises on practicality to offer better performance and style. However, it starts at $37,395 compared to X1’s $34,895.
2018 JAGUAR E-PACE
If you’re looking for a practical SUV with a bit of a sporty attitude in the entry-level luxury class, Jaguar E-Pace is the car for you. The stylish sedan features an elegant and modern interior accompanied by a powerful optional engine.
After the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar E-Pace is the priciest base model SUV in its class. The vehicle has large wheels and athletic handling which makes it fun to drive on the road.
But in comparison to other brands on the list, Jaguar doesn’t offer a lot of interior space, and its infotainment system is also less impressive than its competitors. E-Pace is the most expensive SUV on this list with a base price of $39,595.
